Background/History
Haiti is located in the western Hemisphere on the island of Hispaniola .The island was discovered by Christopher Columbus during his first voyage in 1492.The island was called Hispaniola because it was occupied by the Spain until the French settlements competed for the portion and won the western side of the island.The island was inhabited by Taino Indians. Haiti is the largest country in the Caribbean after Cuba and Dominican Republic.
Culture
The languages spoken in Haiti are French and Creole.French is mostly spoken by educated Haitian, at school, church, wedding and business sector.Haitian culture consist of a blend French and African. Haitian art is distinctive through paintings and sculptures.Our Art strongly resemble those in Africa for example, daily life struggles, markets, rooster and other wild animal. Haiti's climate is tropical, meaning it feels like summer all four seasons.Music
Haitian music inherit from a wide range of culture such as the African rhythms, French and Spanish. Our styles of music includes Rara, Kompa, Rasin, Voodoo,Troubadour and Meringue.
